Bhubaneswar: Abhijit Iyer-Mitra, who was under the custody of the Konark police on a four-day remand, was sent to Nimapara jail after his bail plea was rejected by the Konark JMFC Court today.
Abhijit would stay in Nimapara jail till November 5, according to sources.
It may be noted that Abhijit had appeared before the Assmbly Committee on September 23 over his derogatory remarks against Konarka Temple, Shree Jagannath Temple, people of Odisha and its culture.
After he was interrogated, the Kharavel Nagar police arrested him on the basis of an FIR lodged against him at the police station. Then, he was produced in a court, which sent him to judicial custody. Later on court’s permission, the Konark police had taken him on a four-day remand.
