Dhenkanal, May 11: A body of a Covid-19 patient which was dumped inside a jungle created panic among the residents of Mundideuli area under Kamakhyanagar block in the district today. Sources said that five members of a retired Headmaster’s family were being treated for Covid-19 infection at the hospital while the headmaster was being self-isolated in home. While in isolation, he succumbed to the virus on Sunday. As no one including other family members or relatives went near the dead body fearing to get infected, the Sub collector and the Executive officer of the district recovered the body from the house for performing the last rites. Meanwhile, instead of performing the last rites with Covid protocols, the authorities allegedly dumped the body inside a jungle following which the residents fear that the virus can spread through any wild animals or street dogs as the body is lying wide open inside the jungle.
