Mumbai, May 15: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is set to reunite with acclaimed director Rajkumar Hirani after 11 years for a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, the pioneering force behind Indian cinema. Fans of Aamir Khan are in for a major cinematic event as the actor teams up once again with Hirani, following their iconic collaborations on 3 Idiots and PK.
According to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film is set against the backdrop of India’s Independence movement and will chronicle the life and legacy of Dadasaheb Phalke, who laid the foundation for Indian filmmaking. Sharing the news on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Adarsh revealed that filming is slated to begin in October 2025.

As per a press note from the film’s team, leading VFX studios from Los Angeles have already developed AI-driven visual designs to authentically recreate the era in which the story is set. The script has been in development for four years, with Rajkumar Hirani collaborating closely with writers Abhijat Joshi, Hindukush Bharadwaj, and Avishkar Bharadwaj to bring this ambitious project to life.
