​​​​​​​Bhubaneswar, March 19: A special POCSO court in Kendrapara has sentenced a 53-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl, an assault that resulted in her pregnancy.

In addition to the prison term, the court imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on the convict. Failure to pay the fine will extend his sentence by another year, prosecution counsel Nehru Kumar Sahu stated.

According to case details, the incident occurred in 2024 when the man exploited the situation of a 16-year-old girl being alone at home and committed the crime.
