Bhubaneswar, Aug 10: In a heart-wrenching road accident in Patrapada, Bhubaneswar, an eight-year-old girl lost her life, while her mother and two-year-old brother are battling for survival in the ICU of AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
The tragic incident occurred this evening in front of the V2 Mall. The victims, residents of the Phuleshwari slum in Patrapada, were reportedly returning home after the young girl had tied a Rakhi to her brother as part of the Raksha Bandhan celebration.
While crossing the road, the family was struck by two vehicles—a Scorpio followed closely by a Thar—which allegedly came from behind at high speed and ran over them.
The girl died on the spot due to the impact. Her mother and infant brother sustained grievous injuries and were immediately rushed to AIIMS, where they remain in critical condition.
Authorities are investigating the incident, and further details are awaited. The accident has sparked outrage among local residents, who have raised concerns over traffic safety in the area.
