Bhubaneswar, August 11: Under Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) scheme, a total of 20,149 Jan Aushadhi Kendras (JAKs), including 881 cenrtes in Odisha have been opened across the country till June 2026.

Uttar Pradesh topped the list with 4,226 Jan Aushadhi Kendras in the country.

While Kerala records 1833 JAKs, Karnataka operates 1720 cenrtes followed by  Tamil Nadu (1631), Bihar (1304), West Bengal (1014), Gujarat (955), Odisha (881), Rajasthan (794), Maharashtra (763), Delhi (692), Madhya Pradesh (690), Punjab (572), Haryana (560), Jammu and Kashmir (373), Chhattisgarh (371), Uttarakhand (370), Andhra Pradesh (316), Telangana (249), Assam (202), Jharkhand (192), Manipur (79), Himachal Pradesh (77), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (43), Arunachal Pradesh (36), Puducherry and Tripura (33) each, Meghalaya (30), Nagaland (25), Chandigarh (20), Goa and Mizoram (19) each, Sikkim (17), Andaman and Nicobar Islands (6), Ladakh (3) and Lakshadweep (1).

This information was given by Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers, Anupriya Patel, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

With an objective of making quality generic medicines available at affordable prices to all, the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana was launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India in November, 2008.

Under the scheme, dedicated outlets known as Jan Aushadhi Kendras are opened across the country to provide generic medicines at affordable prices. As on March 2026, product basket of PMBJP comprises 2,100 drugs and 300 surgical items.
