8 places in Odisha record maximum temperature above 43°C

Bhubaneswar, April 25: Odisha continued to reel under intense heatwave as 27 places recorded 40 degree Celsius or more on Monday. Balangir was the hottest place on Monday with a maximum temperature of 44 degree Celsius followed by Titlagarh which recorded maximum temperature of 43.8 degree Celsius. The Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar said that as many as eight places recorded a maximum temperature of 43 degree Celsius and more while 16 places recorded maximum temperature of 42 degree Celsius and more. The other places which recorded maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius and more included Angul (43.7), Talcher (43), Jharsuguda (32.2), Boudh (42.5), Sambalpur (43), Dhenkanal (40.5), Nayagarh (41), Cuttack (40.2) and Bhubaneswar (40.8). Maximum temperature (day temperature) is likely to increase further by 2 to 3 °C over the districts of Interior Odisha during next two days and there will be no large change thereafter. It will be above normal by 3 to 5 °C at many places over the districts of Odisha during next 4-5 days. People are advised to take precautionary measures for hot weather while going outside during day time (around 11 AM -03 PM),” said a Met official.
