A horrifying incident has sent shockwaves through Danojhala village in Komna block, Nuapada district, where a 7-year-old boy is battling for his life after being allegedly thrown into a burning haystack. The young victim, Bhism, and his 14-year-old brother, Buddhadev, were playing near a haystack belonging to Arjun Ketki when it caught fire.
According to preliminary reports, Arjun accused the boys of deliberately setting the haystack ablaze. Enraged, he allegedly ordered his nephew, Mahendra Ketki, to punish young Bhism. What followed was a scene of unimaginable cruelty. Mahendra allegedly subjected Bhism to a brutal beating before callously throwing him into the raging flames.
Witnessing this horrific act, Buddhadev, displaying extraordinary courage, leaped into the inferno to save his younger brother. Both boys sustained severe burns in the incident and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
The incident has sparked outrage and grief in the community. Villagers are demanding swift justice for the young victims and calling for strict action against the accused. Meanwhile, Arjun and Mahendra have fled the village and are currently evading authorities.
Police have launched a manhunt for the accused and are investigating the incident from all angles. While the exact circumstances leading to the fire remain unclear, the focus is on ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice and that the young victims receive the best possible medical care. This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the vulnerability of children and the urgent need to protect them from violence and abuse.
