Bhubaneswar, August 15:The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great fervor and patriotic zeal across various venues in Boudh and Balasore districts on Friday.
In Boudh Block, the celebrations began at 9:00 AM at the Baunsuni High School playground, organized by the National Day Celebration Committee, which also marked its Silver Jubilee (25th year) this year. The event was held under the guidance of Committee Chairperson Dasharath Meher.
Renowned poet and Padma Shri awardee Haldhar Nag graced the occasion as chief guest. He unfurled the national flag and received the salute from the combined parade contingents, highlighting the spirit of national pride and unity.
Meanwhile, in the Nilgiri Sub-Division of Balasore District, the Independence Day function was held at the local stadium, drawing significant public participation. Sub-Collector Madhusmita Samantray, who attended as the chief guest, hoisted the tricolor and inspected the ceremonial parade. A total of 42 groups from local schools and colleges participated in the parade and showcased cultural performances, including patriotic dances by young children. Several individuals excelling in various fields were felicitated on the occasion. National flags were also hoisted at government offices, private establishments, and local clubs, further contributing to the festive atmosphere.
In Boudh District, the official district-level celebration took place at the District Stadium. District Collector Bibhuti Bhushan Nayak hoisted the national flag and received the salute during the grand parade. Superintendent of Police Rahul Goel was present as a distinguished guest, lending further significance to the event.
The day concluded with vibrant cultural programs and community participation, reflecting the deep patriotic spirit of the people in both districts.
