76% increase in cyber crime cases in Odisha in 2019: NCRB

Bhubaneswar, Sep 30: Cyber crimes in Odisha witnessed an increase of 76 percent in 2019 as compared to 2018, revealed the latest data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). As per the latest report, as many as 1485 cases of cyber crime were registered in 2019 while the number was 843 in 2018. Odisha is placed in third place in terms of ATM frauds with 331 such cases while Bihar topped the table with 792 cases. Maharashtra registered the second highest ATM fraud cases with 454 cases. Similarly Odisha reported 545 online banking frauds, which is second highest after Maharashtra (552 cases). NCRB report said that most of the cyber crime cases were related to ATM frauds.
