Berhampur, Sept 3: Concern continues to grow over the disappearance of Sagar Sahu, a first-year MBBS student of MKCG Medical College in Berhampur, as more than 72 hours have passed without any information about his whereabouts.

Sagar’s family members have reached Berhampur and are conducting searches at various places. His father, uncle and other relatives were also seen searching for him at Berhampur Railway Station.

Sagar Sahoo, a native of Jajpur district, reportedly went missing on August 31. After the college authorities failed to locate him, they lodged a complaint with Baidyanathpur police.

Acting on the complaint, police launched an investigation and recovered Sagar’s mobile phone from an area near Berhampur railway station. According to police, he was last seen near the station wearing a white shirt and carrying his college bag.

Preliminary investigation reportedly revealed that Sagar appeared for two examinations but did not attend the third paper. On the day of the Physiology examination, he was reportedly seen outside the examination hall before disappearing.

Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M said a police team was formed immediately after the missing report was received and efforts were launched to trace the student.

“Police are verifying CCTV footage and examining the student’s mobile phone. His friends are also being questioned to understand his mental condition. We hope the student will be traced soon,” the SP said.

The medical college authorities have informed Sagar’s parents about his disappearance. Police and the college administration have appealed to anyone having information about his whereabouts to contact the authorities immediately.
