Puri, Oct 6: With Kartik Brata set to begin from Tuesday, Puri is witnessing a massive influx of Habishyalis- elderly women observing the sacred month-long fast. As Kumar Purnima falls on Monday, the traditional Raidaamodar Brata will start the following day.

The district administration has made elaborate arrangements at Brundabati Nivas, Bagala Dharmashala, and other centers, providing accommodation, food, medical care, and daily rituals. Habishyali kits and ID cards are being issued after registration.

According to astrologer Harishankar Mishra, as Purnima tithi aligns with sunrise on Tuesday, Kumar Purnima rituals at Jagannath Temple will be observed that day, including Lord Sudarshan’s Dola procession and Lakshmi-Narayan’s Dyutakrida.

To ensure safety, over 22 platoons of police, 4 ASPs, 15 DSPs, and 100 constables are deployed. Special barricades and control rooms are in place to manage the expected Panchuka crowd.

Puri SP Prateek Singh confirmed that all arrangements are in place to ensure a safe and smooth observance of the holy month.
