64 deaths, over 11 people missing in Uttarakhand, says Amit Shah after high-level meeting

Dehradun, Oct 21:  As many as 64 people have lost their lives due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand and more than 11 people are missing so far. One of the two missing trekking teams has been located, said Union Home Minister Amit Shah after attending a high-level review meeting with officials of the state and Centre over the natural disaster in the state. Roads have been cleared in Nainital, Almora, Haldwani. Power stations will resume operations soon. Mobile network restored in 80% of the state, Shah added. There has been no tourist casualty so far due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand. More than 3500 people were rescued and more than 16,000 precautionary evacuations were done. As many as 17 NDRF teams, seven SDRF teams, 15 companies of PAC, more than 5000 police personnel have been deployed in the affected areas deployed. “I held a high-level review meeting with officials of the State and Centre over the natural disaster in Uttarakhand. Due to timely rainfall alerts, the extent of damage could be controlled. Now, the Char Dham Yatra has resumed,” said Amit Shah in Dehradun.
