612 get Covid-19 vaccine shots in Bhubaneswar on Day 1

Bhubaneswar, Jan 16: As per the plan immunization against Covid-19 started today in six different facilities of Bhubaneswar. They are Capital Hospital,AIIMS, SUM Hospital, KIIMS Hospital, BMC Hospital and Unit -IV Community Health Centre . During the hour senior Govt officers present in Capital Hospital immunization centre were Additional Chief Secretary, Pradipta Ku.Mohapatra,Commissioner, BMC, Prem Chandra Choudhary,Special secretary, Health Dr. Ajit Mohanty,Director , Family Welfare, Dr. Bijaya Panigrahi,Director , Capital Hospital, Dr. Laxmidhar Sahoo, Medical Superintendent, Capital Hospital, Dr. Dhanjaya Das and WHO representative Dr. Nihar Ranjan Ray. At the same time following the address of the Prime Minister immunization session has started in six different centers of Bhubaneswar. By end of sessions in each centre today a total no of 612 persons have been immunized today. Capital Hospital facility covered 156 persons whereas 100 each in AIIMS,SUM Hospital,KIIMS Hospital,BMC Hospital and 56 in Unit -IV Community Health Centre(CHC). First persons who were immunized today in six centres of Bhubaneswar are- Biranchi Naik, sanitation worker-Capital Hospital in Capital Hospital facility, Dr. Umakanta Satpathy,Addl. Director, DMET(Director Medical Education and Tarining)in unit-IV CHC facility,Dr. Gitanjanli Batmanabane, Director AIIMS – BBSR in AIIMS facility, Dr. Niranjan Padhi,Consultant Medicine in BMC Hospital facility, Dr. AshokMohapatra, VC- SOA in SUM Hospital Facility and Major General Dr. Pradip Ku. Pattanaik, Director General and Principal KIIMS in KIIMS Hospital facility. A mix of different categories of professionals received immunization today in Bhubaneswar are 139 doctors,230 paramedics,147 supporting staff,89 ANMs and 7 other categories. Kabita Nayak , first vaccinator gave vaccine to Biranchi Naik , first beneficiary of Capital hospital facility; “ I had the anxiety when immunization against Covid-19 will solve the problem of such pandemic and; the day has come. I am happy to participate as a vaccinator”. Sasmita Mallick, another vaccinator told, “I have no apprehension as total system is here to overcome any difficulties. Today there is no reaction found with any recipient and it build our confidence to work more”. We are expecting to complete the target within a week so that preparatory activities could be done for the next round told commissioner Prem Chandra Choudhary. Everyone is normal who have received immunization today and this message should go to citizens for future cooperation of fighting against covid-19; he added.
