Six tribal families staying away in forest since 2014 due to ‘brutality’ by a local outfit

Khordha, Aug 30: Days after a video of inhuman act of a local outfit, another shocking news came to fore that six tribal families are living in deep forest fearing the brutality of the organization’s Chief Manas Das.

The families have alleged that the so-called Humanitarian Organisation members had tortured them and forced them to leave the village in the year 2014. They were brutally thrashed by the members of the outfit. They claimed to have been living in the forest since then.

“Followers of Manas Das thrashed me and sent my husband and sons to jail even though they were not involved in any crime. I didn’t have anything to eat or clothes to wear. I was beaten up and thrown away from my house by the members of the organization,” alleged a woman.  

Earlier, local police registered a case against seven persons of the outfit and launched a probe into the matter. The police identified the accused persons from the viral video. A team of police led by the SP and additional SP went to the victims’ house and took him to Begunia police station to collect the details of the incident.

The group reportedly tortures those who refuse to join their organization. When the father and son refused to join the group, they faced the same fate. The victim, Maguni Nayak, said that two months back, a young man suddenly arrived at his house. He took him and his son to a car parking area. Both the father and son were brutally beaten up by a group of people for not joining the organization. The victims alleged that the chief of the organization, was behind the heinous act.
