6 pistols seized in Bhubaneswar, peddler arrested

Police in Bhubaneswar seized six semi-automatic pistols and live ammunition while arresting an arms peddler during a secret deal. The accused, a repeat offender from Jajpur district, allegedly sourced weapons from Bihar. Further investigation and raids are ongoing to trace the supply network.

6 Pistols Seized in Bhubaneswar, Arms Peddler Arrested

​​​​​​​Bhubaneswar, Jan 16: The Commissionerate Police Bhubaneswar on Friday seized six pistols in Bhubaneswar and nabbed the peddler red-handed while striking a deal.

The accused has been identified as Manoj Kumar Mallick alias Pappu of Odisha’s Jajpur district.

According to report, Mallick was peddling firearms, fetching them from Bihar. He was earlier nabbed for the same crime but was released on bail.

S. Devdutta Singh, Police Commissioner, said, Manoj was finalizing a deal in Bhubaneswar to sale out six semi-automatic pistols and 10 rounds of ammunition today. Meanwhile, he was intercepted by the crime squad of the Commissionerate Police.

Interrogation is underway to dig out more clues regarding the illegal firearm supply. The sleuths continue with multiple raids to reach at the delivery points where the firearms were scheduled to be received. ​​​​​​
