Cuttack, April 15: As many as 59 minors were rescued from Cuttack Railway Station by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), officials said. The children have been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and an investigation has been initiated into the incident.

According to reports, the minors arrived by the Howrah–Puri Dhauli Express and were intercepted by RPF personnel while deboarding at the station. Suspecting something unusual, the police detained them for questioning. During interrogation, it was revealed that all the minors hail from Araria district of Bihar.

In the meantime, a person identified as Maulana Mohammad Akhlaad from Raghunathpur area in Jagatsinghpur district reached the station and claimed that the minors had come to Cuttack to study at a madrasa. However, he failed to produce any valid documents to substantiate his claim.

Subsequently, all the minors were produced before the CWC and handed over for further care and verification. Police have continued their probe into the matter.

Notably, this marks the third such incident within a week, with a significant number of minors being found at Cuttack Railway Station under similar circumstances.
