Bhubaneswar, Nov 24: The Learning Recovery Programme initiated by the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has failed in the Nuapada district. According to a survey conducted by social outfit Atmashakti Trust in Komana and Nuapada blocks in the district, the pilot learning revealed that 54 per cent students of in the two blocks don’t know about the Learning Recovery Programme that was initiated by OSEPA to recover the learning loss of students during Covid pandemic. Around 500 skilled members of the outfit divided into 33 teams had visited 68 schools in a day and interacted with 115 students. Similarly, around 56 per cent of students have not taken part in the recovery classes and many schools have not started the programme. The survey also suggested that there is a need for departmental promptness and public awareness for the successful implementation of the programme. The OSEPA introduced the provision of special classes and assignments for school students for the entire 2022-23 academic session under the Learning Recovery Programme in April this year. The decision came after a survey found over 40 per cent of students from Class I to VIII were struggling to secure scores above 20 per cent in language papers and mathematics.
