5 more officials given compulsory retirement

Bhubaneswar, Feb 08: The Odisha government has given compulsory retirement to 5 more officials on grounds of corruption and inefficiency. The five officers include an engineer, a police inspector, a revenue supervisor, an SDPO and an Anganwadi supervisor. With this, the state government has taken action against 146 officials. Baripada ITDA Assistant Engineer Santosh Kumar Das, against whom there were cases of corruption and disproportionate assets of Rs 2.8 crore, has been handed over compulsory retirement. He was arrested and sent to jail in relation to the cases. Former CDPO of Balikuda Jagatsinghpur, Sarala Dei, who was aprehanded by the Odisha vigilance while taking a bribe of Rs 20 thousand in November last year has also been given compulsory retirement. The vigilance department has unearthed huge properties including five plots in Bhubaneswar, Pipili and Jagatsinghpur. Pratima Sahu, anganwadi supervisor, who was also apprehended along with Sarala Dei has also been given retirement on charges of corruption and inefficiency. Inspector of Anugul Police Training College, Ramachandra Behera, who had many allegation against him has been handed over compulsory retirement due to inefficiency and indiscipline. Revenue Supervisor working in the Keonjhar Sadar Tahasil Office, Hrudananda Sahu has also been handed over compulsory retirement due to his corrupt practices. He was caught by the vigilance department while taking bribe during a land demarcation work.
