Boudh, Sept 6:In a major crackdown under the Odisha Government’s anti-narcotics initiative ‘Operation Prahar’, police in Boudh district have seized a total of 450 kilograms of ganja in three separate operations, with one person arrested.
The first and largest haul came from Ghantapada Police Station, which seized 350 kg of ganja from the Gudamenda forest area under Narayanprasad Panchayat. Acting on a tip-off, a police team reached the spot where illegal ganja processing was reportedly underway. On spotting the police, the smugglers fled the scene, leaving behind the contraband.
The seized ganja was weighed in the presence of a magistrate and confirmed to be 350 kg. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act (Case No. 124/25). Station Officer Valmiki Pradhan and Investigating Officer SI Madhab Chandra Takri confirmed that the case is being pursued with full seriousness and further investigation is ongoing.
In a separate raid, Kantamal Police recovered 13 kg of ganja from Rundimahul village and arrested one accused, identified as Anand Khatua. He has been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and produced before the court.
In another successful operation, Kantamal Police intercepted a vehicle suspected of transporting ganja near Udepur. Although the driver managed to escape, police recovered 88 kg of ganja from the vehicle. The seizure was verified in the presence of a magistrate. An NDPS case has been registered and efforts are on to trace the absconding driver.
These coordinated efforts are part of the state’s intensified campaign against narcotics, aimed at making Odisha a "Ganja-Free State."
