Keonjhar, Mar 26: Atleast 43 people of Kutu and Hathidhari village under Jhumpura block have been admitted to hospital due to diarrhoea in the district.
A total of 43 members of 23 families of the two villages have suffered from diarrhoea due to contaminated water. They are undergoing treatment in Community Health Care (CHC) in Jhumpura and Champua respectively.
According to the locals, one after another people started to fall sick in the villages since last two days. The government had constructed an over head water tanker of 50000 litres capacity for the villagers in 2017. The villagers claim that the tanker has not been cleaned even once after it was constructed due to which people have to suffer from diarrhoea. They also alleged that even Asha workers and other health care workers have asked them not to use the water as it was contaminated.
However, a team of healthcare workers have reached the village to take stock of the situation.
