Bhubaneswar, Oct 31: A disturbing video showing the brutal assault of a 14-year-old boy, allegedly over previous enmity, has gone viral on social media, sparking outrage across the Dhaulig area. Acting swiftly, Dhauli police have arrested seven accused persons, including the prime suspect, while efforts are underway to trace others still absconding.

According to reports, about 20 to 25 days ago, a group of local youths from Gopinathpur Krushnapur village under Dhauli police limits allegedly abducted the minor to a secluded location and mercilessly thrashed him. Despite the victim’s repeated pleas for mercy, the attackers continued to beat him and even threatened to kill him if he informed anyone about the incident. Terrified, the boy kept the ordeal to himself.

One of the assailants reportedly recorded the attack on video, which later surfaced and reached the boy’s mother. Upon viewing the clip, she confronted her son, who then revealed the entire incident. The mother subsequently lodged a formal complaint at Dhauli police station on Thursday night.

Based on the complaint and the viral video evidence, police launched an investigation and arrested six persons. The main accused was later apprehended from Bhadrak district. “The remaining accused will be arrested soon,” said Dhauli Police Station Officer Pradeep Kishore Nayak.
