Malkangiri: A four-member team led by Development Commissioner R Balkrishnan today visited ‘Swabhiman Anchala’ in Malkangiri district to review several developmental projects in the areas.
The officials of Works Department, Village development and district administration were also present in Chitrakonda to take stock of the development initiatives there.
Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in July inaugurated of the much-awaited Gurupriya Bridge in Chitrakonda block of Malkangiri district to connect 151 cut-off villages situated across the Balimela reservoir has given fillip to development works have inside the Swabhiman area.
The 910m bridge connects the Janbai south to Janbai north was constructed for Rs 172 crore.
Bus-service from Malkangiri town to Bodpada, situated in the Swabhiman area (earlier known as the cut-off area) has also begun. Tube wells in Bodpada and Papermetla panchayats have also been installed.
Earlier, the State Government had announced Rs 100 crore package for development of the backward region.
