Hyderabad, Apr 25: In an unfortunate incident, at least four were killed and eight others were injured after a truck collided head-on with a minivan in Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh in the wee hours of Monday.
The horrific incident took place at Renigunta-Naidupeta highway when a group of 12 persons, returning back home in a minivan were hit by an oncoming truck near Ardhanareeswara temple in Srikalahasti.
Following the incident, three of the passengers died on the spot while nine others including four children were rushed to the Srikalahasti Area Hospital by the police.
All the nine injured were later shifted to the SVR Ruia Government General Hospital in Tirupati, where one of the victims succumbed to his injuries.
It is being suspected that the driver of the minivan was intoxicated with alcohol which was the main reason behind the accident.
The police have registered a case and have launched an investigation into the incident.
