Paradip, Sept 28: Police held four truck looters on Wednesday who had hijacked a truck from Odisha’s Paradip area after killing its driver. The accused have been identified as Hukum Singh, Harpal Singh, Amjad Khan, Jogeswar Barik, and SK Bullaudin. According to the Abhayachandpur police, Hukum Singh and Harpal Singh who are truck drivers hijacked a truck from the Paradip area on August 26. Subsequently, they pushed its driver, Chand Babu, to the river from the Bhutamundai bridge and fled with the truck to sell it in Mayurbhanj. Getting no information about Chand Babu, his parents lodged a complaint with the Abhayachandpur police regarding the missing of their son. Meanwhile, the truck was seized by the Mayurbhanj police which was concealed in the Janghira forest for the sale, after its dismembering into pieces. During the investigation, the modus operandi of the truck lifting gang was unveiled and the two hijackers and three receivers were apprehended by the police. However, no clue regarding the missing driver, who was reportedly thrown into the river has been available.
