3207 MSME units closed in Odisha for Covid-19 pandemic

Bhubaneswar, Feb 20: As many as 3207 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) units in Odisha have closed for the Covid-19 pandemic, informed MSME minister Dibya Shankar Mishra in the State Assembly. Mishra while replying to a question by BJP MLA from Rengali constituency, Nauri Nayak said that the data related to loss of jobs in these MSME units for the pandemic is currently not available. The minister further said that the State government has announced pandemic financial assistance of Rs 289 crore for the sector. “Besides provision has also been made to provide assistance to these units under Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) of Union government,” said the minister. As per statistics 567 MSME units in Balasore were closed during the Covid-19 pandemic followed by Ganjam and Samablpur which witnessed closure of 484 and 321 such units respectively during the pandemic.
