30 gharial hatchlings discovered in Satkosia gorge

Angul, May 12: In a another boost to wildlife conservation in Odisha, as many as 30 gharial hatchlings have been spotted in the fresh waters of Satkosia gorge. In the last year’s count it was 28 hatchlings to be spotted in the fresh water of the gorge, said a Satkosia Wildlife official. CM Naveen Patnaik Commend the sustained efforts of the forest officials which succeeded in natural nesting of the extinct species of the reptile in the lower mouth of the Mahanadi after more than 40 years.
