Balasore, June 8: In a tragic incident, three civil workers were found dead on Sunday inside an underconstruction sump in Odisha’s Balasore district.
The incident took place at Gagandhuli village of Jhinkiria panchayat under the Simulia police limits this afternoon.
The three deceased have been identified as Babaji Majhi, Bapi Majhi, and Narahari Behera.
According to reports, the workers were plastering the inside walls of the sump. Meanwhile, they cried for help and remained silent within no time.
Responding to it, the locals entered into the sump and found them in unconscious states.They were rushed to the hospital for resuscitation where they were declared dead.
On being informed, local police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the matter.
The corpses were sent for post-mortem after a case was registered in this connection. Primary investigation says that the three might have died in electrocution. Further, investigation is underway to rule out asphyxia, said the police.
