Balasore, Aug 2: The STF of Odisha police on Monday seized three kg of pangolin scale in Odisha’s Balasore district and arrested two persons in this connection.
The accused have been identified as Manibhadra Samal of Natapada under Berhampur police limits of Balasore district and Choudhury Singh of Bandhasahi village under Berhampur police limits.
On the basis of reliable information, the STF team conducted a raid with the help of Balasore forest division near village Natapada under Berhampur police limits about a deal of sale of pangolin scales by wild life criminals.
“During search three kg of pangolin scales and other incriminating materials were seized from their possession. The accused persons could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of pangolin scales, for which they have detained and handed over to forest officials for necessary legal action at their end,” said the STF.
During last one year, Special driver against the wildlife criminals and poachers have been launched, STF has seized as many as 15 = Leopard skin, 09 elephant tusk, two deer skin, three live pangolin and 13 kg pangolin scales and arrested 29 persons.
