3 forest raids by Odisha Vigilance, timber and minor mineral worth Rs 56 lakh seized

Bhubaneswar, Aug 6: Vigilance Directorate and forest officials today conducted three separate raids and seized minor mineral and timbers worth Rs 56 lakh. In the first raid, Vigilance Directorate with the assistance of local forest staff of Dalijoda forest range seized two trucks loaded with black granite stones worth Rs 51.30 lakh. “There were no valid documents in support of minor minerals and therefore it violated the provision of the Minor Mineral Concession Rule, 2004,” said an official. In the second incident, the teams raided two illegal furniture units at Shyamsundarpur and Angulei in Kendrapara district and seized timbers worth Rs 3.05 lakh. In the third incident, the teams raided two places at Baghuasahi and Tailangi in Jajpur district for illegal hoarding of timber and seized timber worth Rs 1.77 lakh.
