Bhubaneswar, April 1: There are 26 productive Public enterprises in the state, said Minister for Public Enterprises Ashok Chandra Panda. Answering to BJD MLA Aswini Kumar Patra's question in the Assembly, Panda said that as many as 36 public enterprises are there in the state. Seven government run enterprises are incurring losses. One is on the break- even point, while another one is a non-profitable institution, while one state run public enterprises is in shutdown condition. Panda said that Odisha Agro Industries Corporation, Seed Corporation, State Cashew Development Corporation, Forest Development Corporation, Odisha Mining Corporation, Odisha Construction Corporation Ltd, Tourism Corporation, Power Generation Corporation, Hydro Power Corporation, Odisha Power Grid Corporation, Industrial Promotion & Investment Corporation Ltd. are the major profit making enterprises. On the other hand, Grid Co. Ltd., Rural Housing and Development Corporation, IDCOL Kalinga Iron Works Ltd., IDCOL Ferrochrome and Alloys Ltd., Odisha Fisheries Development Corporation Ltd., Odisha State Financial Corporation and the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation are running in loss. However, steps are on to rejuvenate the sick PSUs, Panda added.
