25th Capital Book Fair to Be Held in Bhubaneswar from November 14–23

Bhubaneswar, Oct 8: The 25th edition of the Capital Book Fair will be held from November 14 to 23 at the Shaheed Nagar Durga Puja Ground in Bhubaneswar. The 10-day literary event will celebrate Odia language and literature through a series of activities, including the selection and awarding of outstanding books published in the past two years.

According to the organizers, books published between January 2023 and November 2025 will be reviewed under 12 literary categories: Essay, Novel, Short Story, Poetry, Translation, Drama, Science Literature, Religious Literature, Biography/Autobiography, Travelogue, Satire, and Children's Literature. One outstanding book in each category will be selected for awards.

A new selection committee was constituted during a recent meeting chaired by Dr. Upendra Kumar Jena. Key attendees included editor Bidhubhusan Pattnayak, convener Ramesh Chandra Swain, and members Birakishore Pradhan and Kamalini Mallik.

Authors and publishers wishing to submit entries must send three copies of their books, clearly mentioning the literary category, year of publication, a brief bio of the author, and contact details. Submissions must reach the committee by October 31.

The Capital Book Fair has long been a major platform for showcasing Odia literary works and promoting the regional publishing industry. The upcoming edition promises to uphold this legacy by recognizing excellence in contemporary Odia literature.
