25 cases of black fungus detected in Odisha so far

Bhubaneswar, May 30: Covid-19 cases are likely to decline within two weeks as the posistivity rare has come down, informed Additional Chief Secretary of Health, P.K Mohapatra. Mohapatra said that Odisha reported highest 12,852 cases on May 22 and presently the state positivity rate has come down to 14%. “Positivity rate is declining in 19 districts and it is below 5 percent in 5 districts. The positivity rate in the State has come down to 14 percent and we hope the positivity rate will decrease further,” said Mohapatra. Mohaptra further said that 25 cases of Mucormycosis also known as black fungus have been detected in the state so far. “Three of them have died for other reasons. The situation in Odisha is much better than other states and we have also asked the centre to provide the injection needed to treat patients infected with Mucormycosis. One the injections reach the state, the situation will improve in next one week,” said Mohapatra.
