Bhubaneswar, Aug 15: The Odisha government is all set for formation of at least 21 new urban local bodies (ULB) especially Notified Area Councils (NAC) across the state.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed it on Friday while gracing the state-level 79th Independence Day in Bhubaneswar.
During his address, CM Majhi said the proposed NACs will be strategically located to drive rapid growth and improve civic facilities. The councils will focus on upgrading sanitation, water supply, roads, and public amenities in emerging towns, laying the groundwork for long-term economic opportunities.
The move is aimed at accelerating development in semi-urban regions as only 17% of the population currently lives in urban areas that are getting essential amenities at their hands.
Apart from forming Notified Area Councils (NACs), the state will take up ambitious infrastructure projects covering roads, ports, and urban growth, to make Odisha one among the prosperous states of the nation in every respect, the CM added.
