Infant drowns before his mother in Phulbani

Phulbani, July 8:  A two-year boy has drowned in a ravine before his mother on Saturday. The tragic incident came to the fore in the Majhipada village under the Phiringia police limit in Phulbani in the morning. Sources said that wife of one Bikash Kanhar was taking her bath in the Surka Pattangi ravine in the morning, leaving her two-year son on the bank. Meanwhile, the boy crawled near the water and fell into the running stream.  Subsequently, he was swept away by the water and remained missing. Responding the outcry of the mother, locals rushed to the spot and recovered the baby from the water in an unconscious state and carried him to the Phulbani District Headquarters hospital for resuscitation. However, the attending doctors declared him dead. Acting on the Memo of the medical the police has registered an UD case in this connection after an autopsy of the body.
