Bhubaneswar, Apr 17: As the mercury continues to soar persistently in Odisha, Sonepur has become the hottest city in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 43.5°C on Saturday.
As many as 15 places in the state have recorded temperature above 40°C including Sonepur at the top of the list with 43.5°C followed by Balangir and Angul scorching at 43°C and 42.7°C respectively.
At the same time the twin city Bhubaneswar and Cuttack saw the mercury rise to 38.1°C and 38.0°C respectively during the period.
The Met officials have cautioned that the heatwave is going to prevail in several areas in the state for the next five days.
At the same time, as many as 8 districts of Odisha have been warned against the Kalabaisakhi (Nor’westers) as predicted by the meteorological department.
