
Jatani, Sept 1: The 13th Jatani Ganesh Mahotsav took place with grandeur on the fifth evening at the Sharata Paikaray Stadium yesterday. The event, organized by the Kalinga Yuva Parishad, was attended by a host of distinguished guests and cultural dignitaries. The festival was marked by vibrant performances, showcasing Odisha’s rich artistic traditions.
On this special evening, notable personalities like Rajya Sabha Member Sulata Deo, BJD General Secretary Captain Manmath Routaray, and former Khordha MLA Rajendra Sahu, along with several prominent figures from Jatani and nearby areas, graced the event. Their presence added to the celebration's prestige, reflecting the importance of the occasion.
The evening’s cultural extravaganza featured performances that celebrated the local traditions of Odisha. Lahanga Adibasi Kala Kendra from Sambalpur presented the Santhali Dance, and Ma Chaitali Kala Sansad from Ostrapur Kotpal showcased the Goda Nacha dance. The Ma Yogamaya Paika Akhada also performed their traditional Paika Akhada martial arts, which was a major highlight of the evening.
The program was conducted by Sita Kant Nayak, while Ravinarayan Das, the president of the Kalinga Yuva Parishad, and Samir Jena, the editor, were present to oversee the celebrations. The evening's cultural segment was beautifully curated and led by D. Shambudutta Swain, a renowned senior dancer from Odisha, who is well-known for his expertise in traditional dance forms.
This year’s Ganesh Mahotsav in Jatani was not only a religious observance but also a platform for showcasing the region's deep cultural heritage, bringing together music, dance, and local traditions in a spectacular display of devotion and artistry.
