Bhubaneswar, Dec 11: At least 137 ponds have been included under the Amrit Yojana for reinstallation, with restoration work completed for three of them. Restoration work is underway for 126 ponds, while initiatives have been taken to begin work on eight more.
The information was shared by Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Krushna Chandra Mohapatra.
In Bhubaneswar, several ponds are being revived under the scheme.
These include Ananta Basudev Pond, Badhei Thakurani Pond, Bajrang Vihar Pond, Lakshmisagar Fish Pond, Pahal Gambharia Pond, Malihada Pond, Masjid Pond, Nanda Kishore Pond, Nayapalli Pond, Ranagadia Pond, Bhotpada Pond, and Santh Tulasi Das Pond, all of which are undergoing restoration right now.
Additionally, in the Jharusuguda district, a total of 42 ponds have been identified for revival in areas such as Jharasuguda, Brajarajnagar, and Belpahar. Among these, restoration work is underway for 15 ponds in Jharasuguda. The estimated expenditure for this project is approximately 1609.25 crores.
