13 years passed, Cuttack police functions without a reserve!

Cuttack, Mar 13: Cuttack police has been functioning without a reserve of its own since 13 years. No provision for a separate reserve office, police barrack and even a parade ground hind the way of police to maintain law and order situation in rural Cuttack district.  At the emergence of modernisation of the cop for the ensuing challenges ahead, Odisha Police is getting equipped with many advanced technologies. At the same time, Cuttack district police is proving antique with no basic amenities such as infrastructure for police reserve.   Once upon a time Cuttack police was the most prudent police district of the state for its age-old infrastructure and the police head quarter office. However, Cuttack district police divided into two parts after the Commissionerate police came into force in the twin cities. Since then, commisionerate police is using most of the existing infrastructures. On the other hand, the Cuttack rural police division is functioning with limited provisions. There is no place to house the reserve office. Similarly, district reserve force wing is having no armoury, no earmarked staff quarters starting from the SP to the constables. At the same time armed police forces have to take shelter in temporary barracks. While, the reserve outfits for mob control such as PCR van and interceptor vehicles are kept at open in the air. Reserve office has got shifted thrice in 13 years.  As a result, rural police face unforeseen difficulties to handle law and order situations. In most of the cases district police have to use the resources of Commissionerate police for mob control and crowed management.  However, the Superintendent of Police Cuttack B Jugal Kishore said, Land for reserve office, reserve police ground and special barrack has been finalised. Construction work will be started soon.
