1170 bottles of illegal cough syrup seized in Bargarh, five arrested

Bargarh, Oct 4: Bargarh Town police today seized 1170 bottles cough syrup and arrested five persons in this connection. The accused have been identified as D Nishad, Naushad Khan, Saroj Bhue, Santosh Meher and Srikant Nayak. Police have seized two four wheelers from the accused. According to reports, the accused person has been selling cough syrup to youths of the locality, who allegedly use this as an intoxicant. Police said that more than a dozen of cases are pending against the accused in various police stations in Bargarh district. Police have registered a case in this connection. “The accused will be forwarded to the court. The drive against smuggling of cough syrup will be intensified as in the district,” added the police official.
