Subarnapur, Aug 4: A 10-foot-long python was safely rescued from the premises of a college in Odisha’s Subarnapur district on Tuesday, triggering panic among staff and students before the reptile was safely removed by the Forest Department.

According to reports, employees of Sriram College at Rampur under Dunguripali block noticed the large python hiding beneath a staircase inside the college building. The sight of the snake caused alarm on the campus, prompting the staff to immediately alert the Forest Department.

Acting swiftly on the information, a rescue team from the Binika Forest Department reached the college and carried out a safe rescue operation. The python was captured without causing any harm to the reptile or the people present on the campus.

The presence of the massive snake had left college employees frightened, while several local residents gathered outside the campus after hearing about the incident. Many assembled to catch a glimpse of the rescued python.

Forest officials later shifted the python from the college premises and are expected to release it into its natural habitat in accordance with wildlife conservation guidelines. No injuries or untoward incidents were reported during the rescue operation.
