Bhubaneswar, April 3: As many as 10 candidates will be contesting the Pipili bypoll after two candidates withdrew their candidature today. Today was the last day for withdrawal of candidature.
Polling will be held on April 17 and votes will be counted on May 2. Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha, Sushil Kumar Lohani said that as many as 5 candidates have filed nomination papers while nominations of three candidates were rejected during scrutiny.
“About 1740 polling personnel are going to be engaged in the bypoll and their first round training has been completed. As frontline workers they have been vaccinated with first dose of Covid vaccine during their training. As many as 102 critical polling stations have been identified and webcasting will be done in 50 % (174) polling stations. Similarly micro observers will be deployed in 26 polling stations,” said Lohani.
