Bhubaneswar, June 5: In a significant step towards enhancing national capabilities in Artificial Intelligence and next-generation defence technologies, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo today inaugurated Odisha’s first state-of-the-art Deep Neural Network (DNN) Laboratory.
The laboratory has been set up at the premises of Krystellar Defence and Aerospace in Nayapally, Bhubaneswar. The event was attended by senior government officials, defence experts, academicians and industrialists from the state and domain experts from foreign countries.
The lab is designed to promote research in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Electronic Warfare, Cognitive Communications, AI-powered Space Surveillance, Hypersonic Threat Detection, Tracking and Situational Awareness. It will provide a strategic platform for AI-powered innovation in missile defence, drone defence, radar signal processing and cyber defence.
Singh Deo advised the youth to dream and work tirelessly until it becomes a reality.
He appreciated the initiative of a young entrepreneur from Odisha, Uday Bhanu Das, to set up a high-tech facility for defence and space research, innovation and design in the state and encouraged the youth to emulate his work to realise the dream of a self-reliant India in defence preparedness. Along with this, German car companies were invited to come and establish their manufacturing industries in Odisha.
Later, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between BL eGovernance and IT Solutions.
Singhdeo launched high-end mobile sets and promoted the entrepreneurs. Defence and Space Chairman Brigadier L.C. Patnaik emphasized on the development of AI optimized frameworks, high performance computing and automated warfare systems to shape the future of warfare and national security. Uday Bhanu Das, Founder and CEO, Krystellar Defence and Aerospace, said, DNN Lab will act as a key enabler for the development of indigenous, mission-ready AI solutions. The lab also aims to support key initiatives under 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', promoting self-reliant, secure and technology-enabled defence.
Apart from R&D, DNN Lab will provide advanced training programmes and special workshops for defence personnel, scientists and engineers. The facility will also host collaborative projects with leading DRDO labs, aerospace PSUs and domestic defence technology innovators.
