Samba (Jammu and Kashmir), May 9: The Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted a major infiltration attempt along the International Boundary in Samba district late Thursday night, officials said.
The incident occurred around 11:00 PM on May 8. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), BSF Jammu stated:
"At around 2300 hours on 8 May 2025, BSF foiled a major infiltration bid at the International Boundary in Samba district, J&K."
Meanwhile, defence sources reported a significant escalation in hostilities along the border. According to unconfirmed reports, an Indian Air Defence unit shot down a Pakistani Air Force jet in the Pathankot sector of Punjab. Official confirmation from the government is still awaited.
In another incident, the Indian Army successfully intercepted and destroyed two Pakistani drones in the Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The drone activity occurred amid an intense exchange of artillery fire between Indian and Pakistani forces in the region.
Tensions remain high along the India-Pakistan border, with multiple security agencies on high alert.
