Odia Law Scholar Pragya Samal offered international scholarship, free admission from six famed Western Varsities

New Delhi, March 14: Odia Law Scholar Pragya Samal has been eligible to get scholarship from Berkeley & Michigan Law Schools, free admission from six famed Western Varsities.

Pragya Samal who is all set to fly abroad for her higher studies and research in the field of law, hails from Odisha’s Jajpur district.

She is the daughter of Ajay Kumar Samal, a Supreme Court attendant and a cook at the official residence of one of the judges.

Pragya hits headlines on national and international periodicals on Thursday after she got a rousing ovation from Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud and other Supreme Court judges.

Pragya received a warm welcome by the Panel of SC Judges in the judges’ lounge, for her uncommon accomplishments by dint of her meritorious testimonials.

After a few days to come, Pragya is scheduled to join a repute International Law Varsity, to pursue her research studies in law.

The 26-year girl, on the basis her career marking and merits, received admission offers for LLM programmes from six western universities with Columbia Law School, Chicago Law School, New York University, Pennsylvania University, Carey Law School, University of California Berkeley School of Law and the University of Michigan Law School- and also secured scholarships. 

Besides, she secured scholarships from Berkeley and Michigan law schools after reportedly qualifying the formal assessments and the tough, international-level entrance exam. 

Pragya graduated in law from AMITY University in 2021. She then worked as a judicial clerk with an SC judge, since retired, and joined Centre for Research and Planning (CRP) in February 2023.
