Imphal, Ap 27: At least two security personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) lost their lives in an attack by unidentified armed militants in Manipur's Bishnupur district on Saturday.
The attack targeted an India Reserve Battalion (IRBn) camp occurred at Meitei village of Narayansena under Moirang police station here. The militants reportedly opened fire and threw bombs at the camp during the wee hours of Saturday with the attack lasting for a significant duration.
The deceased have been identified as sub-inspector N Sarkar and head constable Arup Saini.
Additionally, two security personnel from B Company of CRPF's 128 Battalion, stationed in the Naransena area, sustained injuries in the attack.
The injured personnel, identified as Inspector Jadav Das and Constable Aftab Hussain, were immediately taken to the Bishnupur District Hospital and later transferred to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal, as confirmed by police authorities.
