Bhubaneswar, March 19: The second campus of Odisha's first and only women's university – Rama Devi Women's University is a far dream after nine years of its announcement.

Rama Devi Women's College got university status in 2015 and the state government announced for setting up a second campus.

In 2018, the government identified 30-acre land at Gothapatna for setting up the campus, but the university administration did not accept the proposal due to its remote location, around 20 km away from the main campus.

Prior to it, the higher education department issued a notification for the second campus of the university inside Utkal University. However, the Utkal University students protested against it.

Later, a land was identified near Sainik School area. However, the higher education department did not show any interest due to some unknown reasons.

Further, it was proposed to set up the second campus in Unit - IX area demolishing old government quarters, but both the university administration and higher education department are yet to take a final decision on it.
