Bhubaneswar, October 18: BJD president Naveen Patnaik will visit Nuapada twice to bolster party’s election campaign in Nuapada Assembly bypoll.

“Naveen Patnaik will hit the campaign trails in Nuapada twice. All the strategies of the BJP and Congress will be proved wrong once Naveen Patnaik visits Nuapada. Rajendra Dholakia belonged to BJD,” , said senior party MLA Dibyashankar Mishra.

BJD, the main opposition force in the State has fielded former Minister and prominent woman leader Snehangini Chhuria as the party’s candidate for the Nuapada Assembly bypoll.

The by-poll will be held on November 11 and the result will be declared on November 14.

Notably, BJD found itself in a fix after Jay Dholakia, son of the late sitting BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia and once seen as its probable candidate for the bypoll, joined the BJP and subsequently got the BJP ticket for the bypoll.

“Supporters of Rajendra Dholakia are opposing Jay Dholakia. People know that Rajendra Dholakia belong to BJD and was a Cabinet Minister too. Hence, all the votes will come in favour of BJD,” asserted the Junagarh MLA.

Congress has nominated Ghasiram Majhi as its candidate for the bye-election. The by-election to Nuapada assembly constituency was necessitated by the death of MLA Rajendra Dholakia on September 8 due to health-related issues.
