Youth arrested for cryptocurrency cheating worth Rs 67.5 lakh

Bhubaneswar, Oct 2: Khandagiri police has arrested one youth for allegedly cheating Rs 67.5 lakh to invest in the cryptocurrency. Police said that the cryptocurrency works without a central repository or single administrator. The digital currency can also be exchanged for other currencies, products, and services in legal or black markets. Police today arrested the accused identified as Omm Prakash Bharrawat (28), a resident of Mandasur in Madhya Pradesh. Police said that the accused had collected Rs 67.5 lakh from the victim Satyajit Samantray, a resident of Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar. “The victim came in contact with the accused in December 2020. The accused explained to him few financial plans and lured him through lucrative returns if the complainant invested money in cryptocurrency trading. Giving false assurance and lucrative returns the accused has collected the money in several phases.
