Young woman recovered from roadside in seminude condition; gang rape suspected; one detained, car seized

{"id":20117,"width":583,"height":611} Bhubaneswar, 7/11: A young woman was recovered from along the Kalinga Nagar road on the city outskirt in semi nude condition last evening. She had told the police that she was returning to Khordha in a private car when she was gang raped on the way from Bhubaneswar and dumped on the road side. A youth was detained by the Khandagiri police and the car was seized. Yesterday evening, a group of youths of Jemadeipur found the young woman lying on the road side near the cremation ground with injury marks on her body. On being informed, Khordha town police arrived at the spot and rescued the young woman with the help of Fire Service personnel. She was admitted in the Khordha district head quarter hospital and was undergoing  treatment. The team of Khorda police station arrived at the hospital and interrogated the woman. Later, the Khordha SP joined them. After the victim regained sense, she told the police that she belonged to Gania area of Nayagarh district and she was staying in Khorda along with her widow mother. She had been to Bhubaneswar yesterday to obtain her certificate. She boarded a hired car at Khandagiri Square while returning home. On the way she was gang raped and dumped on the roadside. {"id":20118} Khorda town police transferred the case to Khandagiri police station as the alleged incident was said to have happened on Kalinga Nagar road. Khandagiri police has detained a youth for interrogation and seized the car in which the woman had travelled.
